TLC have an ongoing and steadily growing relationship with a remote village in Nepal. We have recently returned from a trip to visit the village of Taku, having taken 20 young adults from our community to Nepal.

 |
Through our fundraising effects, we were able to raise in excess of $22,000. That was able to go towards:
- Buildings: The building of new classrooms for the Primary school
- Land: Money given to the village council to potentially purchase the land next to the school as a playground as the children currently have no play space
- Education: 20 scholarships for class 11 and 12 students. This year Taku will have a class 12 for the first time, and this money will enable many students to study who would otherwise been unable to afford it.
- Supplies and materials: Stationary, sports equipment and teaching equipment was purchased for both Primary and Secondary schools
- Orphanage: We were able to offer $3,500 towards the building of a children’s home.

We were also able to give them many resources donated in Australia, such as books, tools, sports equipment and more. It is simply incredible how far money is able to stretch in Nepal.
Our relationship with this village has been tremendously mutual. As recipients of their hospitality and friendship, it has been fantastic to be able to offer so much in return. We continue to be in discussion with the village as to how we can best support them financially (and otherwise) in moving forward.
